Pink Slips are extremely important!

Each time your automobile policy renews, it should have 'pink slips' as part of the package. These are the pink cards which are proof that you have purchased an Automobile Insurance policy providing the at least the minimum amount of coverage required by law. There is legislation in each province (In Ontario it's the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act) which requires that you have a current certificate in your car AT ALL TIMES. If you are pulled over by the police and you don't have the current card, you can be fined and the conviction will also appear on your driving record for the next three years. Worse still, Insurance Companies can also increase your premiums if you have this conviction on your driving record.

Remeber, the onus is on you to make sure you have a current card in your vehicle - this also means that if someone else is driving your car, they need to be able to prove that it is insured as well, or they will end up getting a ticket.

There is a misconception that the police will not charge you if you show up at the police station within 24 hours and prove you have Insurance. This is not the case - it is entirely at the discretion of the officer and they can charge you right away.

Don't let this happen to you! If for some reason you did not receive your cards or cannot locate them, please call us and we will be happy to send you another card.
